Yeasayer @ The Fillmore Miami Beach

Washed Out opened for Yeasayer, and I was expecting somewhat of a sleepy set. Their sound lifted from chillwave to a reggae funktastic beat. Playing for only 30 min, they exceed my expectations live.

Yeasayer, kicked off  Rocktober with a bang!  After their disappointing set at Lollapalloza this summer, I was weary of what they'd sound like here in Miami. The Fillmore was the emptiest I had ever seen it, yet they gave it 110%. Front man, Chris Keating was very chatty all night talking about the Miami Heat, and telling the crowd he shares the same birthday as Dwayne Wade. He also mentioned that he'd never played anywhere chandeliers were hanging, making them feel uncomfortable. Joking, Keating said it looked like a Vampire Weekend cover.  The only lowlight of the entire evening was how short their set was, along with only one song during the encore.
